FANATIC chocolate fans have gone wild for a rare treat based on a popular 1970s snack.
The pink-coloured retro goodies were spotted in Asda and pointed out by frantic social media users on Facebook.
Chocoholics went wild after Aero Strawbery Flavour Melts were seen on shelves.
The Sun reported that the fan-favourite bar was re-launched in July last year, with Facebook users also going crazy for the return of the Nestlé chocolate bar.
And fans have now spotted another new version of the snack based on the fan-favourite.
They come in the form of small melts which are bound to satisfy the sweet teeth of chocolate fans across the nation.
They are inspired by the nostalgic strawberry-flavoured chocolate bar.
A Facebook user pointed out the nostalgic find and said: “NEW Aero Strawberry Flavour Melts spotted in ASDA!!”
The post received comments from fans who were desperate to get a taste as soon as possible.
One user said: “They look nice.”
Another shared their excitement by saying: “oooo.”
Fans of the treat also posted their reviews on the Asda website.
One fan said: “Bought for my grandson who absolutely loved them.”
Another left a positive review saying: “Loved these. Taste just like strawberry milkshake. Very light & I believe 0 calories, ahem! Definitely buying again.”
The melts are selling in Asda for £1.65, which gets you an 86g bag of delightful bites.
The original bar which was released last year was a nostalgic resurrection of a childhood classic for many adults.
One fan posted to Facebook at the time: “Had this in the 70s, glad it’s back!”
Another added: “They were my fave as a kid… stock up cos they will disappear again soon!”
Aero, then produced by Rowntree’s, first launched a strawberry version of its bubbly chocolate in the 1970s, but it didn’t stick around for long.
At that time the confectioner would often experiment with different flavours with others for its Aero brand including coffee, rum, orange and lime.
Fifty years on, the new strawberry bars appeared exclusively on Spar shelves in May, but have been rolled out across other retailers from the beginning of July.
A spokesperson for Nestlé said: “The bar brings together a smooth milk chocolate shell with a melt-in-the-mouth bubbly strawberry flavour centre.”
The launch gained huge attention on social media.
One shopper said: “Looks amazing.”
Another wrote: “These look yum will get them soon.”
A third shared: “I need to get these ASAP.”
