PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday accorded approval to re-organisation of student wing and youth wing a day after both wings ended up creating a scene during a dinner hosted at Governor House.
According to the party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met sons of central party general secretary Hassan Murtaza, senior political leader Manzoor Watoo, Shehzad Cheema, Naveed Chaudary, Mian Misbah Ur Rehman and Zaki Chaudary.
Bilawal said, “We want a policy where both experienced leaders and new talent coexist in the party.” He highlighted that Pakistan has a large youth population and PPP wants to attract young people towards it. Educated individuals should join the party and play an active role, he added.
The PPP chairman also accorded approval for dissolving of Punjab Youth Organization and Punjab Student wing during a meeting with Central Punjab president Raja Pervez Ashraf and Central Punjab general secretary Hasan Murtaza. It was Raja Pervez Ashraf who had sought permission to dissolve PSF and PYO. Bilawal directed that active youth be included in the PSF and PYO.
It is pertinent to mention that the request of dissolving both PSF and PYO came hard on the heel of a scuffle that broke out in Governor House between security personal and party youth on Monday during an Iftar dinner hosted for Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Punjab Youth Organization had even issued a presser, stating that they strongly condemned the brutal and humiliating treatment of Peoples Students Federation (PSF) president and workers by the security personnel and squad of Governor House.
They demanded from PPP chairman to take immediate notice of the incident, conduct a thorough investigation and take strict action against those responsible.
They warned to launch a strong protest campaign and sit-in outside the PPP Punjab Secretariat If a fair investigation was not conducted.
