CM Punjab approves construction of Kulsoom Nawaz hospital in Rawalpindi

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the construction of the Kulsoom Nawaz Hospital to provide international standard healthcare and medical facilities to the citizens of Rawalpindi Cantt.

According to informed sources, the hospital will be built on a 36-kanal plot in the heart of Rawalpindi Cantt, where the old GTS terminal was previously located, near Chohar Chowk. The proposed facility will have 3,000 beds, with a special ward for heart patients.

A PC-1 plan for the mega project has already been prepared, and construction is expected to begin this year. The project’s funding will be approved under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

Once completed, the hospital will serve not only the local population of Rawalpindi but also the residents of nearby areas, including Taxila, Attock, Haripur, Fateh Jang, Tarnol, and Hassan Abdal.

Members of the National Assembly, Malik Ibra and Provincial Assembly member Malik Iftikhar, emphasised that the vision of leaders Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is to transform Rawalpindi into a developed city.

Speaking to Express News, they said, “Rawalpindi is a city of Nawaz Sharif’s supporters. Our goal is to serve the people. The construction of this hospital marks the beginning of a new era of development in the area.”

They added that special funds would be allocated for the project, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will lay the foundation stone.
