An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has rejected the bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Omar Ayub and ordered his arrest and presentation in court.

ATC Judge, Justice Amjad Ali Shah, announced the rejection of interim bail for Opposition Leader and PTI leader Omar Ayub, ordering his arrest and presentation before the court.

Omar Ayub, who faces charges related to the November 26 protest, did not appear in court, and his lawyer, Dr. Babar Awan, was also absent during the hearing.

Meanwhile, the court extended the interim bail for Sanam Javed.

Thousands of Pakistani protesters, demanding the release of imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan, broke through security barriers and defied a lockdown to enter Islamabad, responding to call for a sit-in protest on November 26.

The demonstrators, who were supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, many of whom were armed with slingshots and sticks, clashed with security forces as they attempted to reach D-Chowk. Despite facing tear gas and rubber bullets, many had managed to reach the square by early afternoon.

In response, the government invoked Article 245 of the constitution, allowing the civilian government to call in the army to assist in enforcing law and order within the country.

A case was filed against former Prime Minister Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and former President Dr Arif Alvi, along with several senior (PTI) leaders, in connection with the violent protests that had taken place on November 26.

The charges were registered at Taxila Police Station under Pakistan’s anti-terrorism laws.

Prominent PTI members named in the case included opposition leader Omar Ayub, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan, former minister Azam Swati, Taimur Masood, and Shehryar Riaz. Over 300 local PTI leaders and activists were also implicated.
