David Harbour has made it clear he doesn’t want to fuel the media “hysteria” surrounding his relationship with Lily Allen.
The Stranger Things star and chart-topping singer had been married for around four years when they found themselves at the centre of reports that they had split last year.
Since then, speculation has been rife about exactly what led to the end of the pair’s marriage, with both parties remaining tight-lipped about the break-up.
And during a new interview with GQ Hype, David made it clear he intends to stay that way.
“Oh boy,” he responded when GQ brought up the end of his marriage.
After a long pause, David explained: “I’m protective of the people and the reality of my life. There’s no use in that form of engaging [with tabloid news] because it’s all based on hysterical hyperbole.”
He went on to say that he was staying quiet so as not to encourage a “salacious shitshow of humiliation”.

Lily has also not commented on the end of her marriage, but made no secret of the fact she was going through a tough time towards the end of last year.
In January, she disclosed that she was taking a break from the spotlight to spend several weeks in a mental health treatment facility.
Speaking on her podcast, Miss Me?, upon her return in February, she shared: “It was a big decision to have to leave [my daughter for a few weeks to go and focus on myself, but ultimately it was for them so that I can get us through.
“I needed some help to be able to do that. I don’t want them to ever feel like they have to prop me up. None of this is their fault and it’s my job to support them and make them feel safe and secure. And I just don’t think I was able to do that because of the emotional turmoil that I was in at the time.
“But I do feel like I am now… I’m not saying that I’m 100% there or getting it 100% right, or that I ever will, but I’m definitely in a stronger place.”
More recently, Lily revealed that she recently underwent cosmetic surgery on her breasts, claiming: “I’m buying fancy lingerie that my boobs can actually fit in and taking pictures on my phone,.
“I haven’t sent them to anyone yet, but I will hopefully get there at some point.”
