Death in Paradise becomes latest BBC show to fall victim to major schedule shake up as series finale is delayed

DEATH in Paradise has become the latest BBC show to fall victim to a major schedule shake up this week as the series 14 finale is delayed.

The hit BBC drama saw Don Gilet become its latest detective, after making his debut in the Christmas Special.

Series 14 has featured many twists and turns, including Commissioner Selwyn being replaced, and Death in Paradise fans were eagerly awaiting the finale this Friday, March 21.

But they will be disappointed to learn that it is one of the many shows being taken off air this Friday to make way for Comic Relief.

It means the Death in Paradise finale will now air on Friday, March 28 at 9pm.

While fans will be disappointed to have to wait a week, the push back does mean they’re in for a double delight on March 28 as the new series of Beyond Paradise, which is also part of the Death in Paradise universe, will begin at 8pm, before the original series’ finale starts at 9pm.

Beyond Paradise is back for its third series, but fans will also get a treat during the Comic Relief telethon.

The show will crossover with another BBC favourite, Not Going Out, starring Lee Mack and Beyond Paradise’s Sally Bretton.

The sketch will see Sally play both her roles – Martha in Beyond Paradise and Lucy in Not Going Out – in a case of mistaken identity.

Sally said: “It was great fun to have the two worlds collide, play my own doppelganger and get swept up in the madness that comes with that.

“It was particularly special to be doing it all for such a brilliant cause as Comic Relief.

“The sketch was filmed at such high speed, we didn’t know if we were coming or going.”

She added: “I don’t know how Lee Mack [who wrote the sketch] holds all the moving parts in his head.

“We all had a great day filled with fun, confusion and belly laughs.”

Other shows to be taken off air on Friday to make way for Comic Relief include The One Show, as the telethon starts at 7pm.

The news will return at 10pm, before ten minutes of local news will be provided at 10:30pm.

BBC One will then cut back to Comic Relief programming for an hour before an 11:40pm screening of the film, Beetlejuice.
