Uzbekistan Airways has announced the commencement of direct flights between Tashkent and Islamabad, set to begin on May 24, according to Arab News. Initially, the airline will operate weekly flights every Saturday.
Discussions are currently underway with Civil Aviation Authority to finalise the necessary logistical and regulatory arrangements. Subject to demand and operational considerations, the frequency of flights is expected to increase over time.
In addition to the Tashkent-Islamabad route, Uzbekistan Airways is exploring plans to introduce direct flights to Karachi in the near future.
Currently, Uzbekistan Airways operates bi-weekly flights between Tashkent and Lahore on Wednesdays and Fridays, providing essential air connectivity between the two countries.
The new air link is anticipated to bolster people-to-people exchanges, trade, and tourism between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. The initiative is the result of joint efforts by the Uzbek embassy in Islamabad and Uzbekistan Airways JSC, aiming to deepen cooperation and foster stronger ties between the two nations.
