Fulham equalised through Ryan Sessegnon nine minutes later after he pounced on a loose ball inside the box to fire home.

Shortly after two goals in five minutes from Alex Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz put the hosts in control.

The match remained that way until after half-time – before Liverpool finally kicked into life.

Luis Diaz pulled one back with a well-taken finish before Harvey Elliott struck the bar from a tight angle.
