ISLAMABAD:
The JUI-F has accused Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur of trying to sabotage attempts to form a grand opposition alliance against the ruling coalition, stating that despite PTI founder Imran Khan’s clear instructions, Gandapur has been issuing statements against JUI-F chief.
“Gandapur has been continually badmouthing JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman. This criticism will only benefit the government and undemocratic force,” JUI-F spokesperson Aslam Ghauri said on Friday.
The PTI and the JUI-F, once regarded as arch nemeses, came closer to each other after February 8, 2024 general elections which both parties described as highly rigged. In recent months, a grand opposition alliance that includes the PTI has been wooing Fazl’s party in an attempt to form a formidable front against the government.
K-P CM Ali Amin Gandapur, who belongs to the PTI, has, however, been issuing statements against the JUI-F chief. Recently he claimed that Fazl had lost his political influence on the Afghan Taliban and that now he was in a better position to hold negotiations with them.
Responding to these statements, the JUI spokesperson said Gandapur is conspiring to widen the gap between the PTI and the JUI-F.
He warned that any obstruction in the formation of a grand opposition alliance would benefit the government and undemocratic forces. “Ali Amin Gandapur is PTI’s Gorbachev. The PTI faces a greater threat from internal conspiracies than external ones,” he added.
Aslam Ghauri said that whenever an opposition alliance is about to take shape, conspiratorial elements begin their work. He said the K-P CM is afraid of an opposition alliance because it threatens the longevity of his government.
Michail Gorbachev, one of the former presidents of the former USSR, is often accused of the collapse of the world’s largest socialist republic.
The JUI-F spokesperson urged the PTI leadership to keep an eye on internal conspirators.
