India orders mass expulsion of Pakistanis  — RT India

New Delhi has stepped up retaliatory measures after a major terrorist attack in Kashmir left 26 people dead

India has revoked the visas of all Pakistanis in the country and has ordered them to leave by April 27. The move came in response to the terrorist attack in India’s Jammu and Kashmir federal territory and that killed 26 people and injured dozens.

The Indian Foreign Ministry stated on Thursday that the move includes Pakistanis currently in India for medical treatment. Medical visas will only be valid until April 29, 2025. All Pakistani individuals in India are required to leave the country before their amended visa expiry dates.

“Indian nationals are strongly advised to avoid travelling to Pakistan. Those Indian nationals currently in Pakistan are also advised to return to India at the earliest,” the ministry said.

The move comes a day after the Cabinet Committee on Security – chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi – decided on a set of retaliatory measures, including the expulsion of a dozen Pakistani diplomats, the closure of the Wagah-Attari border between the two nations, and a halt to the 1960 Indus Water Treaty on the use of the waters of the Indus River system by the two nations.

Islamabad announced reciprocal measures on Thursday. It also warned that it will respond to India’s attempts to stop the flow of water into Pakistan.

“Any attempt to stop or divert the flow of water belonging to Pakistan as per the Indus Waters Treaty, and the usurpation of the rights of lower riparian will be considered as an Act of War and responded with full force across the complete spectrum of National Power,” according to a statement from the Pakistani Prime Minister’s Office, as cited by the newspaper Dawn.

Earlier on Thursday, Modi issued a warning to those responsible for the deadly terrorist attack in southern Kashmir, in which civilians, mainly tourists from various parts of India, were shot dead by militants.

The Resistance Front, which is believed to be an offshoot of the Pakistani-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.

Speaking at a rally in Bihar, Modi condemned the attack and vowed a firm response, saying justice would be served.  “I say to the whole world, India will identify, trace, and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the Earth,” he stated. “Every effort will be made to ensure that justice is done.”

India has long accused Pakistan of enabling militant infiltrations across the Line of Control, the de facto border that divides the disputed region claimed by both nuclear-armed neighbors – a charge that Islamabad denies.
