Speaking on his Radio 1 show on Monday, Jamie told listeners that he and wife Sophie Habboo, 30, were left spooked when they spotted the door to their car left ajar.

He explained: “So, I live in London, I was with my wife Sophie and we went to get in our car. It’s parked around the place we live, and it’s London right, things maybe go missing occasionally or whatever.

“I walked up to the car, and the car looked a little bit funny, the door was slightly open, and I was like, ‘hang on a second, has someone managed to get into the car?’ Came up to the car and we had been robbed.”

But the thieves left the podcast hosts baffled after they left some very unusual items in the car.

“They left the pineapple in one seat and the melon in another seat. I said to my wife, ‘did you leave these in the car?’ and she was like, ‘no?’, so I don’t know if it’s a sign or the mark they leave,” he continued.

He admitted he had thought of eating the pineapple but said the whole situation was “so eerie” that it had put him off.

Radio 1 listeners were quick to come up with theories.

One listener said: “They’re clearly the fruit bandits now,” referencing the Wet Bandits from 90s festive film Home Alone.

While another said the flavours could be a nod to Jamie’s sweet company, Candy Kittens.

Jamie Laing and Sophie Habbo targeted by terrifying burglary in the middle of the night

Just a few days ago, Sophie revealed she and Jamie had been left shaken after an intruder attempted to burgle their home in the middle of the night.

They were forced to flee their Notting Hill flat before police rushed in to deal with the situation – with the Radio 1 DJ, 36, forced to hide from the thief naked.

House terror

Sophie, 30, opened up about the ordeal on her podcast Wednesdays, which she co-hosts with Melissa Tattam.

She said: “Someone tried to break into our apartment at 6am this morning. I was fast asleep.

“I woke up to Jamie, very calmly I may add, going, ‘Sophie, we’re getting burgled. You need to get up, put your shoes on, we need to leave.'”

Still half-asleep, Sophie admitted she wasn’t fully aware of what was happening.

She continued: “And I was just like, ‘What?’ And so I just stayed. He then rushed back downstairs, he didn’t stay with me. So I just stayed in bed, because I thought, ‘Oh, he said the police are coming.'”

Fortunately, law enforcement arrived swiftly – and in impressive numbers.

“Can I just say that 10 policemen came? It was unbelievable. Maybe there were two vans of policemen. Like, serious, they were so amazing,” she said.

“The guy climbed through a pub, he then put loads of furniture up to try and find…” Sophie began, before Melissa interjected, “So he broke into the pub first?”

“Broke into the pub, climbed over there, all to get to our flat, which is just f*****g creepy,” Sophie confirmed.

Jamie added on his Newlyweds podcast with Sophie that he was “butt naked” when he first heard the noises and went to investigate.

He recalled: “At 5:45 am, I heard this boom, boom, boom, and I was like, ‘What the hell is that?’ Sophie was still fast asleep next to me. So I got up, completely naked, and went downstairs to check.

“I looked out the front of our apartment – nothing. No delivery, no people, completely dark. But then I went to our sitting room and looked out the window.

“I always sleep with the window open, and I suddenly saw someone trying to break into the flat below, wearing a balaclava.

“I thought I would go full Rambo mode, but instead, I just panicked and started going, ‘Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!'”

Jamie immediately called the police while keeping an eye on the intruder.

“I asked them how long the response time was, if we needed to get out of the house. I was freaking out. I even went downstairs and lay down against our front door, using my whole body as a human door wedge,” he admitted.

Sophie and Jamie regularly post from the West London property, which they moved into last year.
