Javed Akhtar under fire for blaming Pakistan in latest tirade

Javed Akhtar, a celebrated Indian writer and lyricist, wrote iconic films like “Deewar” and “Sholay”. He has visited Pakistan multiple times and participated in events such as the Faiz Festival. Pakistani artists and the public have largely treated him with respect and admiration.

During his visit, Javed Akhtar chose to speak derogatorily about Pakistan, and now he has shared more remarks regarding the ongoing “ban” on Pakistani artists in India.

Speaking to the Indian media, Javed Akhtar stated that it is currently impossible for Pakistanis to work in India. He then launched into a tirade, describing the artists working in India as “one-sided traffic.” He further argued that if India doesn’t allow these artists to enter, they won’t be able to report back to their people about how free Indian citizens are and the rights they enjoy, adding that this is also an important point to consider.

Pakistani artists Mansha Pasha, Aqeel Malik, and Mishi Khan called out Javed Akhtar for his views. Mansha urged those who have been calling him to reconsider their approach and stop treating him with such reverence. Mishi Khan also criticized those who continue inviting him, emphasizing that they should now show some self-respect.

The public is also voicing strong criticism against Javed Akhtar’s comments about Pakistani artists. One netizen remarked, “They sat at his feet, and in return, he humiliated them by reinforcing that image.” Another stated, “Our artists are incredibly talented, yet they still try to appease people like him.” A third added, “India has truly insulted these artists.” These reactions reflect growing public frustration over the situation.
