JIT summons 16 PTI members over social media propaganda
ISLAMABAD: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed by the federal government, has again summoned 16 members of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) over allegations of spreading negative propaganda on social media.
According to the sources, 16 people of PTI have been issued notices to appear before the JIT on March 18.
Sources say that Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Khalid Khurshid, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Hammad Azhar, Aun Abbas Bhappti, Shahbaz Shabbir, Waqas Akram and Taimur Saleem Khan have been given notice of appearing before the JIT.
According to sources, Sibghatullah Virk, Azhar Mashwani, Noman Afzal, Jabran Elias have also been summoned to the JIT while Salman Raza, Zulfi Bukhari, Musa Warraich and Ali Malik were also issued notices.
Sources say that PTI’s Barrister Gohar Khan, Rauf Hassan and Shah Farman have appeared before GIT. JIT has also issued a notice to Aleema Khan on March 19.
According to sources, Founder PTI’s sister, Aleema Khan, did not appear despite the summons on March 14.
The investigation team is examining evidence related to the allegations of anti-state propaganda.
The JIT was constituted under Section 30 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, as per notification F.No.8/9/2024-FIA/, and is led by Islamabad’s Inspector General of Police, Ali Nasir Rizvi. The notices warn all individuals to clarify their position regarding the matter.
