A beggar pretending to be disabled was caught by traffic police in Lahore after a display of deception.
According to traffic police officials, the individual was seen begging for alms near the Ravi Bridge, claiming to have no arms, Express News reported.
The beggar had successfully convinced several citizens of his disability, collecting money from unsuspecting passersby.
However, when the traffic police approached, the beggar revealed his ruse by pulling his hidden arms out from his shirt, exposing the deception.
The incident has raised concerns about beggars using false claims of disability to exploit the generosity of the public.
Authorities have noted that many beggars in the city employ similar tactics, pretending to have disabilities in order to earn money from the public.
A crackdown is underway on beggars operating at traffic signals, marketplaces, and major roads across Lahore to curb such scams.
The police also mentioned that some beggars had been repeatedly caught using similar tricks and would face legal action to prevent further exploitation.
The authorities are focusing on combating deceptive begging in the city to protect the vulnerable members of society.
