LOUISE Redknapp has said that she felt the lowest a human could feel when she split from husband Jamie.
Sharing how she “almost gave up”, Louise, 50, explained how she was badly trolled and branded a “villain” in the aftermath of her split from Jamie, 51.
She also spoke about how it was only her kids that stopped her from “giving up”.
After a lengthy marriage, that almost lasted for two decades, Louise and Jamie split in 2017.
The former couple share two sons: Charles, who is 20, and Beau, who is 16.
Louise and Jamie co-parent their sons, with a system where one parent is with the children while the other works.
And now Louise has opened up about her life after her divorce from Jamie and the “outside noise” that came with the high profile split.
Speaking on Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast, Louise explained how she couldn’t see a way out from “how bad and how low” she felt at the time.
“Like, if I didn’t have my kids, I just, I think I would have just given up,” she told Fearne.
“I really do.
“I think I just knew that my kids were my everything and they needed me.
“But I can honestly say, when you’re going through something so personal in your own turmoil in your own way, but then to get the barrage of judgment and nastiness.
I never realised people could be so unkind and say such terrible things. I blew my mind.”
She later added that she “felt so attacked” in a “nationally” way.
“I was going through a lot as it was, I was trying to be strong for my kids, whatever had gone on in our life was private – which I do believe that you’re entitled to no matter what.
And God, I was such a villain, and I was breaking like I was absolutely breaking.
“Beyond what I thought it was possible for a human to break and all along I’m still trying to be a mum.
“And it was just like every time I went out, and I was trying to put a brave face on and do things, like that was wrong if I didn’t.”
“I felt like everything I did was so wrong,” she added, saying how even in the years after, it took a while for her “build up a level of resilience”.
Even now, Louise said she gets “really nervous of doing anything” where she has to express herself.
Responding to Louise’s chat, one person said: “Refreshingly honest. Louise comes across as such a lovely grounded person, and she’s passing on her wisdom to her kids.”
“What an extraordinary interview! So honest, humble and sincere. Thank you so very much for sharing Ladies.
“Truly energising and inspiring,” said another.
While a third penned: “Felt like I was sat with 2 girl friends,…honest, real and inspiring.”
