New electricity tariffs after PM announces reduction in electricity
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently announced a reduction in electricity prices, and the updated per-unit rates have now been revealed.
For residential consumers, the previous rate was Rs38.34 per unit, but after a reduction of Rs7.65, the new rate is Rs31.63 per unit.
Commercial consumers, who were previously paying Rs71.06 per unit, will now pay Rs62.47 per unit after a reduction of Rs8.58. Industrial consumers will also benefit, with their rates dropping from Rs48.19 to Rs41.51 per unit, reflecting a decrease of Rs7.79.
For agricultural consumers, the tariff has decreased from Rs41.76 to Rs34.58 per unit, a reduction of Rs7.18. Other consumers will see a drop from Rs39.68 to Rs32.69 per unit, marking a Rs6.99 reduction.
The price for general services, previously Rs56.66 per unit, has been reduced to Rs49.48 after a cut of Rs7.18. Lastly, bulk consumers will now pay Rs47.87 per unit, down from Rs55.05, reflecting a decrease of Rs7.18.
These price reductions are part of the government’s efforts to ease the burden on the public during challenging economic times, with rising inflation being a major concern.
