More than 60 Pakistani Umrah pilgrims remain stranded at a Saudi airport for a second consecutive day after reportedly missing their scheduled flight due to airline mismanagement, Express News reported.
The pilgrims, who were set to return home via a Saudi airline, claim they were left behind at the airport lounge without assistance or clear communication from the airline staff.
“No one has helped us despite waiting for hours in the lounge. We have been stuck here for two days,” one of the affected pilgrims told local media.
According to the travellers, a representative from the Pakistani embassy in Saudi Arabia has contacted them and collected their details, but no concrete steps have yet been taken to facilitate their return.
Sources suggested the group was left at the airport due to procedural complications with the flight management, although no official explanation has been provided.
Efforts to repatriate the stranded pilgrims have so far failed to materialise, raising concerns over the lack of coordination between the airline and diplomatic authorities.
As of Monday evening, the pilgrims continued to wait at the airport without a confirmed return flight, urging both the airline and the Pakistani embassy to expedite their arrangements. The Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Foreign Office have not yet issued any official statements regarding the situation.
