Pak have edge over Ind in CT: Amir

Former pacer Mohammad Amir made a bold prediction about the upcoming India-Pakistan clash in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, tipping Pakistan to have the upper hand over their arch-rivals.

The high-octane match, set for February 23, 2025, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, promises to be one of the most eagerly anticipated encounters of the tournament.

In a recent interview, Amir shared his thoughts on the team’s form and performance. He believes Pakistan’s recent successes, including back-to-back series wins against Australia and South Africa, will give them the edge over India.

“The way Pakistan has been playing recently—defeating Australia in Australia and beating South Africa—shows their strength, especially in overseas conditions. Based on their recent performances, I think Pakistan will have the upper hand against India,” said Amir.

While acknowledging India’s history of success in major tournaments, Amir expressed his belief that the Indian team is under pressure following their recent setbacks.

“India has always been my favorite in big tournaments. But the Indian team is under pressure and facing severe criticism due to their recent defeats,” he added.

A major concern for India heading into the tournament is the fitness of star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who is currently recovering from a back injury.

The left-arm pacer suggested that Bumrah’s absence could severely impact India’s bowling attack.

“It will be a huge loss for India if Bumrah isn’t there. He has been a top bowler for India, leading the pack from the front. Without him, the Indian bowling attack is reduced to 40-50 percent of its strength,” he said.

Historically, India has dominated Pakistan in the ODI World Cup, holding a perfect 100% win record. However, Pakistan has had the upper hand in the Champions Trophy, winning two out of the five encounters between the two teams.
