Pakistan may soar to record 50°C this week
A severe heatwave is currently sweeping across South Asia, and temperatures in Pakistan could soon reach a global April record of 50°C. This would match the scorching temperature recorded in Nawabshah in April 2018, which was the highest ever for that month in Asia.
According to source, temperatures in central and southern parts of Pakistan have already climbed as high as 47°C over the past weekend. This extreme heat is being caused by a large area of high pressure that traps warm air, making the atmosphere feel even hotter.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave advisory from April 26 to 30, warning people to take protective measures.
This intense heat is part of a growing pattern, as the region continues to experience unusually high April temperatures. It’s also a sign of the broader effects of climate change, which is making extreme weather events more frequent and intense.
