Pedro Pascal has accused JK Rowling of “heinous loser behaviour” in light of her latest social media posts about the transgender community.
Last week, the Supreme Court made a divisive ruling, which stated that the legal definition of a woman in the UK now only covers those assigned female at birth.
This came about after Rowling – whose commentary on trans issues has made her a polarising figure in recent years – reportedly donated £70,000 to the campaign group who raised the legal challenge which led to the Supreme Court’s ruling.
After the decision was announced, the Harry Potter author posted a picture of herself on X raising a glass and smoking a cigar, remarking: “I love it when a plan comes together.”
The writer and activist Tariq Ra’ouf then posted a video on social media urging people to swerve projects inspired by Rowling’s work, in light of what he described as “awful disgusting shit” she has put into the world.
Days later, the Last Of Us star popped up in the comments, writing: “Awful disgusting SHIT is exactly right. Heinous LOSER behavior.”

The Chilean-American actor – who has a transgender sister – has long been a vocal supporter of the trans community.
Earlier this year, he posted a message on Instagram which read: “A world without trans people has never existed and never will.”
In the comments, he also wrote: “I can’t think of anything more vile and small and pathetic than terrorising the smallest, most vulnerable community of people who want nothing from you, except the right to exist.”
Earlier this week, he also attended the London premiere of Marvel’s new movie Thunderbolts*, and made a public plea for solidarity with the trans community in his choice of wardrobe.
Other cisgender celebrities to speak out in support of the trans community in the last few days have included the British actor Suranne Jones, Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears, singer-songwriter Self Esteem and Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan, who launched a fundraiser for a leading trans charity that received more than £100K in donations.
Nicola also spoke out against the upcoming TV adaptation of the Harry Potter books, writing on Instagram that she “wouldn’t touch” the project “with a ten foot pole”.
