Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari addressing the growing concerns regarding terrorism in the country has highlightted the importance of unity in combating the rising threats.
While addressing the National Assembly regarding the Jaffar Express attack, he commended the forces for preventing a major disaster, Express News reported.
He stated, “Terrorism is not a new issue; it has a different context in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.”
“Whether it’s religious terrorism or separatist terrorism, the PPP opposes all forms. No one has suffered more from terrorism than the PPP.”
Bilawal Bhutto continued, “I was the Prime Minister’s son, and at just one year old, there was an attempt to abduct me from our home. My mother kept me safe in London, but eventually, she was martyred. After Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s martyrdom, terrorism surged.”
He said, “What the entire world couldn’t do, Pakistan achieved. Through the sacrifices of the people and the forces, Pakistan was freed from terrorism. When this house united, we crushed terrorism. When PTI was holding its sit-in, APS (Army Public School) happened, and we all came together to create the National Action Plan.”
The Chairman of PPP, Bilawal Bhutto, said, “We broke the backbone of the terrorists, but today, terrorism is once again raising its head. The situation is more dangerous now than ever before. There is no consensus like in the past, and our divisions are being exploited by enemy forces. One terrorist incident follows another, and each new act of terrorism is more dangerous than the last.”
Bilawal Bhutto further stated, “Terrorists have no ideology or politics. Religious terrorists have no religion. The sole objective of these terrorists is to kill innocent people. Religious terrorists do not want to enforce Islam, nor do linguistic or Baloch terrorists want freedom or rights for Balochistan. They just want to spread fear. The people who are martyred have no connection with any government’s actions.”
He added, “These terrorists are supported by global powers, and condemnation alone will not solve the problem. We need to decide what action to take. Terrorists are killing people from Parachinar to Balochistan. We must all unite against terrorism.
The Defence Minister praised the Chief Minister of Balochistan, which is good, but the Chief Ministers of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa must give unconditional support to the federal government in the fight against terrorism.”
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif made the National Action Plan (NAP) One, so why can’t Shehbaz Sharif make the National Action Plan? PPP, during its tenure, gave rights to Balochistan. We fought against those who did not respect the constitution, from Waziristan to Balochistan.
He stated that the people of Balochistan are demanding their rights. In order to confront terrorists, operations need to be conducted, but these operations should not result in collective losses. Terrorists are moving towards their objectives, and the fire burning in Balochistan will first spread in Pakistan and then to the world. While we all stand united in condemnation, we should also stand united in response.
