PPP’s Saba Talpur wins NA-213 Umerkot seat
KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Saba Talpur won by-election in NA 213 Umerkot with a lead of over 74,000 votes, as per unofficial and unannounced results.
Polling for the by -elections in NA -213 Umerkot began at 8am on Thursday morning, which continued till 5pm.
A total of 18 candidates were contested in the constituency, with PPP candidate Saba Talpur and Grand Democratic Association-backed candidate Lal Chand Malhi in the by -elections.
In the by -elections on NA -213 of Umerkot, all 498 polling stations had unofficial and unofficial results, according to which Saba Talpur of the PPP won with 1,61934 votes.
According to the unofficial result, the independent candidate Lal was second with a few 81,160 votes.
Independent candidate Lal Chand rejected the results and gave a sit -in in front of the DRO office while the angry people blocked the road with fire and the strike was announced today.
It may be recalled that the seat of NA -213 Umerkot was vacated after the death of PPP leader Nawab Yousuf Talpur.
Reacting to the results of the by -election, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that success was the result of the hard work of the workers.
Bilawal Bhutto said that the trust of the people is a matter of time, the success of Saba Talpur is a victory for democracy and today we will celebrate the success of NA -213 in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah congratulated Saba Talpur on the success of the by -elections and said that the people of Umerkot once again expressed their confidence in the PPP.
Chief Minister Sindh said that the success of the democratic process is the victory of the people.
