Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar said on Monday that had he been allowed to meet party founder Imran Khan, he would have discussed the growing tensions with India while reaffirming PTI’s full support for all decisions taken by the government in response to India’s actions.
Speaking to the media near Adiala Jail on Tuesday, he reiterated that Imran Khan had already declared Pakistan would not hesitate to respond decisively to any hostile actions from India.
He further affirmed PTI’s full support for all decisions taken by Pakistan in response to India’s actions, adding that the recent ban on Pakistani news channels by Indian authorities had exposed the “myth” of India’s secularism.
Condemning India’s media ban, Gohar said India was projecting a false narrative internationally. “Closing Pakistan’s airspace to India is a justified and strong move,” he said, affirming PTI’s support for the National Security Council’s recent statement.
Barrister Gohar also criticised the authorities for blocking meetings with Imran Khan, calling it a violation of court orders.
“There are directives from both larger and single-member benches, yet no implementation has taken place,” he said. “Preventing consultation at such a critical time is highly inappropriate, especially when we talk about standing united against India.”
He stressed the need to consult the PTI founder, calling him Pakistan’s most popular political leader. Gohar also said he raised the issue of non-compliance with court orders in a meeting with the Chief Justice of Pakistan, urging him to ensure enforcement.
PTI Senator Ali Zafar also spoke to the media near Adiala Jail, stating that amid rising India-Pakistan tensions, politics must take a back seat. “We stand with Pakistan, not politics, in this hour,” he said. “Blocking today’s meeting with the PTI founder amounts to keeping him in solitary confinement.”
He emphasised that an important consultation with Imran Khan was planned regarding national matters. “The founder had clearly directed that the list of visitors should not matter, anyone allowed to meet him should be facilitated. We are all his soldiers,” Zafar said.
He echoed Imran Khan’s past statements on India, noting, “We are a brave nation. When challenged, we will not think, we will respond.”
