Rain, snowfall hit Northern Pakistan

ISLAMABAD:

Several parts of the country have been hit by rain and snowfall, intensifying cold conditions and disrupting traffic in various areas.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain and snowfall in Murree and other regions over the next 24 hours.

Rain and snowfall have lashed parts of Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), Kashmir, upper Khyber- Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), Punjab, and upper Sindh.

In Azad Kashmir’s Leepa Valley, a glacier collapse stranded two vehicles on Leepa-Reshian Road. The road is blocked due to heavy snowfall. The trapped vehicles reportedly contain two women, one child, and six men. Pakistan Army rescue teams are actively working to evacuate them.

The PMD has forecast strong winds, thunderstorms, and rain in the next 24 hours across Kashmir, G-B, K-P, northeastern Punjab, and the Potohar region, with light snowfall expected in high-altitude areas.

Northern Balochistan may experience gusty winds and isolated rain showers, while Islamabad and surrounding areas are likely to have partly cloudy conditions, with light rain and thunderstorms in the morning.

In K-P, early morning rain and snowfall are expected in Kohistan, Shangla, Mansehra, and Abbottabad.
