Rihanna And Ciara Put Feud Behind Them At Met Gala 2025

Between Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion, Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter and (depending on who you ask) Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins, plenty of celebrities could have been poised for an awkward encounter with another A-lister on the guestlist at Monday night’s Met Gala.

Fortunately, others had already buried the hatchet before running into a former adversary at the Met Ball.

Pictures taken behind the scenes of this year’s event show singers Rihanna and Ciara having a laugh together, more than a decade after they famously crossed words on social media.

In one snap, the pair pose for a picture with their respective partners and, for some reason, Jeff Goldblum, while in another much-more-casual photo, Ciara can be seen cradling Rihanna’s pregnant stomach.

Back in 2011, Ciara took a public swipe at the Rude Boy singer, claiming on the (sadly now-defunct) E! series Fashion Police that they’d run into one another at a party where Rihanna hadn’t been “the nicest” to her.

“I’ve ran into her before, but this time it wasn’t the most pleasant run-in,” the Level Up singer claimed.

Rih was quick to reply on Twitter (as it was then still known), writing: “My bad Ci, did I 4get to tip u?”

Mere minutes later, Ciara wrote back: “Trust me [Rihanna] u don’t want to see me on or off the stage.”

It was Rihanna who delivered the hardest blow, though, infamously responding: “Good luck with bookin that stage u speak of.”

While Rihanna’s putdown is still iconic almost 15 years later, she and Ciara actually publicly buried the hatchet in the moment, with the future Fenty Beauty founder writing just 10 minutes later: “Ciara baby, I love u girl! U hurt my feelings real bad on TV! I’m heartbroken! That’s y I retaliated this way! So sorry!”

Ciara apparently wrote back: “U know its always been love since day 1! Doing shows/everything. You threw me off in that party! Apology accepted. Let’s chat in person.”

However, it wasn’t to last, with the pair butting heads publicly two years later, before eventually reconciling for good.

In 2018, Ciara wished Rihanna a happy birthday, shutting down any remaining whispers of a feud, while the latter has since posted footage of herself covering Goodies at a karaoke party on social media.

Rihanna told Interview magazine last year: “Unfortunately, you can’t take anything back from the internet, so I will always have the reminders, but the best troll in me is the silent troll.”
