Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday said that Pakistan’s economic, social and security challenges could be overcome through unity and collective efforts. He urged people from all walks of life to step forward with a spirit of patriotism.
Speaking at the ‘Rab-e-Zuljilal ka Ehsaan – Pakistan’ event and the National Youth and Ulema Convention, organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the Jinnah Convention Centre, he called on ulema to promote unity and brotherhood in society. He stressed the need to rise above sectarian differences and prioritize national interests over personal agenda for Pakistan’s stability and progress.
Federal ministers, parliamentarians, ambassadors from Islamic countries, religious scholars and youth participated in the convention.
The event was organiesd in connection with Jumatul Wida, especially the 27th night of Ramazanul Mubarak.
PM Shehbaz highlighted the significance of Ramazan, saying that Allah revealed the holy Quran in this month and blessed Muslims with Pakistan, an independent homeland achieved through immense sacrifices. He urged people to foster unity and harmony to resolve the country’s pressing issues.
The prime minister paid tribute to the security forces for their sacrifices in the war against terrorism, stressing that future generations would not forgive if unity was not demonstrated to combat this threat. He called on ulema to play a key role in countering extremism.
He said the world powers were against the proliferation of nuclear weapons, but despite all odds, Pakistan became a nuclear power in 1998 and due to this strength and the courage of the armed forces, no enemy could cast an evil eye on the country.
He said Allah endowed Pakistan with numerous blessings and intelligent people like ulema, politicians, military and civil officers and youth.
Pakistan was also blessed with trillions of dollars worth of natural resources, he said, adding foreign elements who were giving financial support to terrorists did not want Pakistan to benefit from its natural wealth.
Pakistan could pay off its debt by exploiting its mineral resources to secure its lost status in the world, he continued. He urged the nation to follow the advice of Quaid-e-Azam and work hard to change its destiny.
He said Quaid-e-Azam wanted a Pakistan where Muslims and minorities enjoyed religious freedom and minorities were protected.
He said, “If we follow the teachings of the Quran and the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and our great leaders, we can achieve our due status in the world.”
Shehbaz was of the view that without economic progress, political independence could not be achieved.
