The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum in Jaipur has issued notices to Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Tiger Shroff, and the chairman of JB Industries for their involvement in a Pan Masala brand advertisement. The forum has summoned them to appear on March 19, 2025.
According to a Times of India report, notices have been served to the Bollywood actors over an allegedly misleading advertisement claiming that each grain of the Pan Masala contains saffron. However, Pinkvilla has not independently verified this information.
Consumer forum chairperson Gyarsilal Meena and member Hemlata Agarwal issued the order while hearing a complaint filed by Jaipur resident Yogendra Singh Badiyal. The advertisement allegedly misleads consumers, featuring the tagline “Dane dane mein hai kesar ka dum” (Each grain has the strength of saffron). The petitioner accused Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff of falsely claiming that the Pan Masala contained saffron.
The petitioner highlighted that saffron costs around Rs 4 lakh per kilogram, while a pan masala pouch with tobacco sells for just Rs 5. He argued that, under such circumstances, adding saffron—let alone its fragrance—would be impossible, as quoted by the source.
The complainant claimed that the advertisement misled consumers into buying the pan masala and tobacco combo, ultimately increasing the manufacturer’s profits. He also accused the actors of spreading false propaganda by endorsing the claim that every grain contains saffron.
The complaint further alleged that the manufacturer is making crores from the business, while common people are risking their health and inviting diseases like cancer by consuming the pan masala and tobacco combination.
The complainant alleged that the advertisement deliberately misleads the public by claiming to contain saffron. Badiyal demanded legal action against the actors for spreading disinformation and called for an immediate halt to the misleading advertisements.
