Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has strongly reacted to India’s accusations following a deadly incident in Pahalgam, Express News reported.
In a statement, Shahid Afridi criticised India for blaming Pakistan immediately after the incident without conducting any investigation, calling it “deeply regrettable.”
“Pakistan is itself facing terrorism,” Afridi said. “I am saddened by the loss of innocent lives in Kashmir and the rising terrorist attacks in Pakistan.”
The cricketer emphasised that diplomatic dialogue between Pakistan and India is the only viable path towards resolving disputes. “Nothing will be achieved through conflict. Cricket should not fall victim to politics,” he added.
Tensions between the two nations escalated after the killing of 26 Indian tourists in Pahalgam. Both countries have since reduced their diplomatic staff and tightened border security, including revisiting agreements like the Indus Waters Treaty.
