SIFC panel orders expediting highway projects


ISLAMABAD:

The 13th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) on Monday issued instructions to accelerate motorway and highway projects in Balochistan, Punjab, and Sindh.

The meeting chaired by Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal also laid emphasis on adopting the public-private partnership model for the construction of port-linked roads.

The committee formulated a clear strategy for the timely completion of major development projects. It directed the acceleration of policy measures and consultations with relevant stakeholders to resolve inter-ministerial issues.

According to an official statement issued after the meeting, the committee reaffirmed commitment to accelerate the construction of essential infrastructure and boost investment through the SIFC platform for economic growth.

The committee members conducted a comprehensive review of the progress on various projects and policy initiatives. Key policy matters related to major sectors, including connectivity and infrastructure, oil and gas, and ports and maritime affairs, were discussed during the meeting. Federal ministers, the national coordinator of SIFC, and senior officials attended the meeting.
