Sindh Assembly approves grace marks for Karachi’s first-year intermediate students

The Sindh Assembly’s parliamentary committee has decided to grant grace marks to first-year intermediate students in Karachi who failed their annual exams.

This decision follows an investigation report by a fact-finding committee led by Dr. Sarosh Lodi, which highlighted flaws in the procedures and administration of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK).

After reviewing the report, Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah acknowledged that students had been treated unfairly, as their matriculation scores were good but had dropped significantly in their first-year results.

To compensate for the discrepancies, students will receive:

15% grace marks in Physics and Mathematics

20% grace marks in Chemistry

The minister assured that the board’s structure and examination system would be revised, and action would be taken against those responsible for the students’ unjust failures.
