Sindh Teachers Code of Conduct 2025 bans makeup

KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department has issued a comprehensive code of conduct for teachers in schools across the province, ARY News reported.

According to the code of conduct, female teachers are advised to avoid excessive makeup and high heels, while male teachers are discouraged from wearing casual attire such as T-shirts and jeans. Female teachers are also encouraged to wear traditional clothing and gaon with minimal accessories.

The Sindh education department also stated that teachers are strictly prohibited from consuming narcotics, gutka, naswar, mawa, or smoking cigarettes within school premises.

Furthermore, teachers are not allowed to assign personal tasks to students, maintaining a clear boundary between personal and professional responsibilities.

Earlier in a separate development, the Sindh Education Department claimed to have discovered about 5,000 ghost teachers who were drawing salaries without performing their teaching duties.

According to reports, Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah issued directives to remove these ghost employees from the payroll. Moreover, the Education Minister of Sindh had given the green light for disciplinary action against these teachers.

The department also announced plans to recruit new teachers from the merit list, replacing the ghost teachers.

Last year, the education department directed all district education officers (DEOs) to immediately halt the salaries of over 1000 absent teachers.

According to a report submitted by the Scrutiny Committee to the provincial education secretary, 1000 teachers across Sindh were found absent from duty in October 2025.

The committee was formed to look into the matter of ghost teachers following a number of complaints in Sindh province.
