A controversy has arisen over claims of electricity theft at a beauty parlor owned by the wife of renowned singer and politician Jawad Ahmed. Denouncing the accusations, Ahmed labeled them as baseless and politically motivated.
The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has filed a case against the establishment, issuing a detection bill amounting to Rs1.3 million for alleged irregularities in electricity usage.
Ahmed strongly refuted the allegations, stating, “The FIR against me is completely false. The meter is my property; how can anyone remove it without my knowledge?” He further challenged LESCO to present credible evidence, such as a medical report or video of any injured staff involved in the case.
According to LESCO, the detection bill covers only six months of alleged electricity theft, whereas the law permits retroactive billing for up to 27 months. They also claimed that the electricity meter from the premises is missing and warned of additional charges if it is recovered.
The FIR, filed at Nawab Town police station, has drawn criticism from Ahmed, who called it a deliberate smear campaign. “I am a politician; the matter is being deliberately exaggerated. It’s not LESCO’s job to make videos viral,” he asserted.
