The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather warning, saying that thunderstorms and light rain are expected to continue across Punjab until April 20.

This alert comes after recent severe weather that led to the deaths of nine people and injuries to five others. According to a PDMA spokesperson, two people died in Layyah and Kot Addu due to lightning strikes, and two houses were partly damaged by strong winds. Because of these incidents, the PDMA is advising people to be extra careful during this unstable weather.

Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed has ordered all commissioners, deputy commissioners, and rescue teams to stay alert. PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia said the Provincial Control Room and District Emergency Operation Centres are now active and monitoring the situation non-stop.

He emphasized that all emergency teams, including Rescue 1122 and their equipment, must be ready at all times. He also advised the public to stay indoors during storms and avoid going near electric poles or exposed wires. He warned people not to go outside when thunderstorms are expected and to stay in safe places to avoid being hit by lightning. He reminded everyone that lightning strikes killed 30 people in Punjab during April last year.
