A 19-year-old, Nicholas Prosper, who murdered his mother, sister, and brother in Luton, UK, last year, has been sentenced after it was revealed that he planned to carry out a mass school shooting. Prosper shot his mother Juliana Falcon, 48, his sister Giselle, 13, and shot and stabbed his 16-year-old brother Kyle at their home on September 13, 2024.

Prosecutor Timothy Cray KC described the killings as part of a “cold, deliberate” plan. Prosper had prepared for months, hoping to kill at least 30 schoolchildren and “achieve lasting notoriety as a mass killer.”

Prosper’s extensive research on previous mass killings in the United States, Norway, and New Zealand showed that he intended to surpass these infamous events.

The court heard that Prosper had no ideological or political motives but aimed solely to gain infamy. Despite being diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), he showed an extreme lack of empathy and remorse.

His violent actions unfolded when he attempted to murder his family while they were asleep, but a confrontation with his mother led to an extended violent struggle.

After the killings, Prosper fled, intending to attack his former school. However, he was arrested by police before reaching the school, with a shotgun and cartridges found nearby.

The murders had been meticulously planned over a year, with Prosper purchasing a shotgun using a fake firearms certificate. His cell was later searched, revealing notes detailing his intentions for the school shooting, including killing teachers and young children.

In a victim impact statement, Prosper’s father, Raymond, expressed the immense pain of losing his children, saying, “The pain of our loss will never be healed.”

Sentence will be passed on Wednesday.
