UK weather: Met Office warns hail, thunderstorms & up to 9 HOURS of rain to hit just days after 21C sunny spell

BRITS brace for storms as hail, thunderstorms and up to nine hours of raining set in following the sunny spell, according to the Met Office.

After one of the warmest Spring days recorded, the weather will quickly turn sour with a flooding warning being issued.

The Met Office has urged Brits to ‘take care’

The Met Office said: “Heavy showers have developed across eastern parts of England this afternoon, with some hail and thunder mixed in.

“Take care if you are travelling as there could be some localised flooding in places.”

There is a warning in place for groundwater flooding in the Bourne Valley, with flooding expected, and 18 more around the UK with flooding possible.

For Londoners, the excitement for the hottest day of the year will be quickly dampened with nine hours of rain, according to BBC weather.

The forecaster has warned that on Sunday afternoon there may be an onslaught of showers and light rain followed by a few hours of drizzle.

This follows a “mini-heatwave” with blissful temperatures reaching 21C in some parts of Britain.

It’s the highest recorded UK spring equinox temperature since 1972.
