Weather update; rains, gusty winds likely in Islamabad, Pakistan
Rains and gusty winds are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Monday night, Tuesday and Wednesday with occasional gaps.
Isolated hailstorms accompanied by snowfall over the hills are expected during this period, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
A shallow westerly wave is currently affecting the upper regions of Pakistan, leading to rainy and windy conditions with snowfall over hilly areas.
The twin cities, northeast Punjab, Potohar region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to experience rain and gusty winds from Monday night through Wednesday, with occasional breaks. Moderate to heavy rainfall is anticipated in Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during this time. Other parts of the country will see partly cloudy weather.
The combination of rain and snowfall may lead to road closures and slippery conditions in several areas, including Murree, Galiyat, Naran, Kaghan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli.
The minimum temperature in Islamabad is expected to range between 12°C and 14°C on Tuesday and Wednesday, rising slightly to 13°C-15°C on Thursday. In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature will likely be between 15°C and 17°C on Tuesday and Wednesday and 16°C-18°C on Thursday.
Over the past 24 hours, most parts of Pakistan experienced cold and dry weather. However, isolated rain, gusty winds, and snowfall were reported in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar region, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Leh remained the coldest place in Pakistan, where the temperature dropped 06°C below the freezing point. The minimum temperature in Gupis and Bagrote was recorded at -02°C, and in Parachinar at -01°C.
In Islamabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 13°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 66 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 16°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 65 per cent.
