ST Patrick’s Day punters will be pleased to discover that Wetherspoons has slashed the price of a pint of Guinness in more than 670 pubs.
To mark the annual celebration, those opting to drink one of Ireland’s most iconic beers will only have to pay £3.15 tomorrow.
That means revellers will save a remarkable 12.5 per cent on every pour.
Despite the tipple’s rising popularity, some drinkers might be looking to save their pennies on alternative options as they head to their nearby watering hole.
Wetherspoons has offered the perfect deal for those celebrating with friends as two shots of Baby Guinness can be bought for £8.
The pub giant has advertised the celebration for tomorrow which coincides with the brand’s Monday Club.
At the start of almost every week, the promotion sets out a wide range of drinks prices which are all lowered.
Highlights include a pint of Ruddles or Worthington’s for just £1.49, a pint of Carling for £2.49, and a single measure of selected spirits (including a mixer) for £1.99.
Additionally, two cocktail pitchers can be enjoyed for £14.25, while a pint of Strongbow or Abbot Ale will cost £2.39 each.
Why do we celebrate St Patrick’s Day?
ST Patrick’s Day is the annual celebration of the patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick.
According to folklore, Saint Patrick was kidnapped from the UK and brought over to Ireland in the fifth century when he was 16 years old.
He is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland and according to legend, he explained the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) using the three leaves of the shamrock.
The day is celebrated all over the world because of the mass emigration of the Irish people throughout the centuries.
Between 1845 and 1854 two million people were forced to leave Ireland due to the potato famine.
They travelled to the United States, the UK, and Canada where the national holiday’s celebrations have continued.
Those in Scotland, who do not benefit from the club promotion, can still nab a £2.99 pint of Guinness to mark St Paddy’s Day.
Sober celebrators could also opt for any one of the wide range of 500ml Monster cans or soft drinks for less than £2.

WETHERSPOONS HIKES PRICES
The Sun exclusively revealed in January Spoons had upped the price of a host of popular drinks and menu items across its pubs.
The chain hiked prices on drinks by 15p while meal deals were bumped up by 30p.
The price rises saw the cost of a Guinness at the London and South Western branch in south west London go from £4.66 to £4.81.
Meanwhile, the price of a Strongbow increased from £3.24 to £3.39.
The average price of a meal deal at Spoons without an alcoholic drink was £4.99 and with a drink was £6.52 before the change.
But the 30p rise means they now cost £5.29 and £6.82, respectively.
Spoons said a number of drinks had not gone up in price, including all draught lagers such as Budweiser, Carling and Coors.
Boss Tim Martin said: “Wetherspoon has always tried to remain as competitive as possible.
“We hope that our prices will still be reasonable in spite of these increases.”
