CHELSEA stuttered into the Uefa Conference League semi-finals – despite deserved defeat on the night.
Hard-working Legia gave the mediocre, much-changed Blues a real scare but a 2-1 win couldn’t make up for their 3-0 first-leg humbling.
Filip Jorgensen will want to forget Legia’s 10th-minute breakthrough.
The Chelsea keeper’s trip on Tomas Pekhart earned a booking and conceded a penalty.
And Jorgensen got both hands to Pekhart’s modest spot-kick, but failed to stop it.
Legia had begun brightly, but Chelsea stole level on 32 minutes.
lIVELY WINGER Jadon Sancho teased his man on the right, before raking a cross that Marc Cucurella swept in nonchalantly.
And 10 minutes later Cucurella pounced close-in again, but a VAR intervention ruled him offside.
But Legia’s impressive start to the second period was soon rewarded.
Steve Kapuadi headed home following a poorly-defended corner.
It left the Poles 2-1 up on the night, but still 4-2 adrift on aggregate.
Tyrique George had a bundled leveller for the home side ruled out for offside.
And in the end Chelsea did enough – but utterly without gloss.
