The spokesperson added that local authorities at the Dakhla port in Morocco are providing shelter and medical assistance to the Pakistani nationals. A consular team from the Pakistani embassy is present in Dakhla to oversee the situation.
The Foreign Office stated that Pakistan’s embassy team is monitoring the relief operation, while the government of Pakistan is working with relevant authorities to provide aid to the affected citizens.
Additionally, the government is coordinating with authorities to finalize procedures for the repatriation of Pakistani citizens. Pakistan remains committed to ensuring the safety of its nationals abroad and will continue to monitor the situation closely.
Earlier, the Foreign Office responded to the tragic boat sinking near Morocco, confirming the Pakistani Embassy in Rabat is in contact with local authorities.
The boat, carrying 80 passengers, including Pakistanis, departed from Mauritania and sank near Dakhla port. Survivors, including Pakistanis, had been moved to a camp.
A team from the embassy assisted affected citizens, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs activated a 24/7 Crisis Response Center.
Under Deputy PM Ishaq Dar’s directives, agencies ensured all necessary support. Help lines and contact details have been shared for further assistance.
