Summer vacation schedule announced!
As the end of the third academic semester in Saudi Arabia approached, both students and parents eagerly awaited the announcement of the summer vacation schedule for 1446.
The Ministry of Education has announced that summer vacation for schools will start right after the end of the third semester. The last day of school for the academic year will be Thursday, June 27, 2025 (1 Dhu al-Hijjah 1446). After that, students will get a chance to rest, travel, and relax before starting the new school year.
The break is meant to help students recharge both physically and mentally.
For universities in Saudi Arabia, summer vacation will begin a bit later, depending on when the second semester ends. It’s expected to start after mid-Dhu al-Qadah 1446. During this time, university students can take part in summer training or volunteer work to build their skills.
The school vacation will end on Sunday, August 17, 2025 (14 Safar 1447), making the break about 51 days long. This is shorter than in past years because of the new three-semester system, but it still gives students a good amount of time off before the new academic year begins.
The implementation of the three-semester system had an impact on the distribution of vacation time throughout the year. Although the summer break had been shortened, students were granted shorter, more frequent breaks between semesters, reducing the pressure of continuous study.
