The name references the final, emotional song of the show. The official post reads, “You will be changed. Wicked: For Good, only in theatres November 21, 2025. 💚🩷.” Get the tissues ready for when Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo perform this iconic song!
Why Was Wicked Split into Two Parts?
Director Jon M. Chu and producer Marc Platt explained that the decision to split the film was made to preserve the songs and characters from the Broadway show. They didn’t want to cut any crucial elements to fit everything into one movie. So, think of the year-long wait as an extended intermission before the story picks up again.

As for Dorothy, director Jon M. Chu has kept details under wraps. While she appeared briefly in part one, Dorothy’s role in part two remains a mystery. Since the character is more prominent in Gregory Maguire’s novel, there’s a chance we might see her in a more active role, but for now, it’s anyone’s guess.
What Happens in Wicked Part 2?
Spoilers ahead! The second part of Wicked is expected to follow the second act of the stage show. The plot revolves around a manhunt for Elphaba, led by Fiyero. Glinda is now officially “Glinda the Good,” but Elphaba is branded the Wicked Witch of the West. Meanwhile, Nessarose has assumed the role of the Wicked Witch of the East and becomes a tyrannical ruler over Munchkinland.
When Dorothy’s house lands on Nessarose, Elphaba spirals, abandoning her good intentions and vowing to embrace her wickedness. In a shocking turn, she has an affair with Fiyero, and her magic inadvertently transforms him into The Scarecrow. Additionally, Elphaba is forced to turn Boq into The Tin Man after Nessarose’s reckless use of magic nearly kills him. It’s going to be a wild ride!

How Can I Catch Up on Wicked Right Now?
Can’t make it to the theater? No worries! Wicked will be available for purchase and rental on major digital platforms starting December 31. You’ll be able to stream both the sing-along and regular versions, along with bonus content like a 40-minute “making of” documentary, deleted scenes, and director’s commentary.
